Writer of Conscience

Jane may not be as overtly Christian as Helen Burns, but she has a strong sense of morality. She is concerned about character. She comments also on Mr. Rochester's warning, "Beware remorse." Let's keep an eye on Jane's inner struggle with conscience, and I'd like to hear from all of you about the values that she considers important.

  1. Jane is very strong in her sense of morality and she is very concerned about character. From what i've read so far in the book, it's easy to classify that Jane is very strong in her sense of right from wrong. Her conscience is very strong on her, and she will often think twice before making a big decision. She's very honest, caring, attentive, and stronghearted. I believe these values are also very important because they separate those that are kind-hearted and honest, from those that are deceitful. Jane is not "Helen Burns", but she sure does try her hardest to be the best she can be, and she listens and follows what she believes is right.
