Jane's Beliefs

From my perspective, I always see Jane using logic and reason to judge a person. She always seems so judgmental all the time which may be a good and bad thing. I find it somewhat right that Jane does judge her auntie as a cruel being yet why say more stuff when there will be more conflict that will follow? I like the fact she does judge mainly throughout the book when there is a new character otherwise this book would be uninteresting or flat. But in today's terms, I would probably despise her because she judges a person by the way the person acts and such which I find as most people know as "fake" today. In other ways I'm neutral knowing her personality.

  1. On what basis do you form your judgments of people, if not how they act and what they say?

  2. I myself choose to not judge people based on how they act or what they say, because I judge a person by getting to know them. If you look it this way there are many cliques today in society they dress, act and talk the same way, but really every person has something different about them, which is why I want to get to know people.

  3. Nice comment! I would like to say that I go along with what you say while giving background information. Though I have a question: when do you think it's alright to judge someone by how they look? Is there any necessary time for that?

  4. I don't think there is any time at all you should judge a person on the way they look, dress, or act. As I said before get to know them, because there are many cliques but each person in that clique is different than the others.

  5. While it is important to get to know a person before making any big decisions about him or her, we all make judgments about people from what they say and do, and how they present themselves. Maybe we're wrong but we still make those judgments. I'm puzzled about this thread, though; what did Jane say to start it?
